The Right to Housing Coalition believes that all citizens have the right to a decent and secure place to live and that it is a responsibility shared among all levels of government to ensure this right. When many of its citizens cannot find decent, safe and affordable housing, governments at all levels must respond with strong policy and program actions.
The Coalition advocates for quality, affordable housing for low-income people. Federal, provincial and municipal governments can use a broad range of mechanisms including legislation, regulation and financial investment to ensure its citizens live in decent, affordable housing.
A major problem facing people with low income everywhere in Canada is the lack of supply of good quality, affordable rental housing. The Coalition has made rental housing a priority in its advocacy work.
The menu items under ‘Coalition Positions’ detail the Coalition’s advocacy work at the municipal, provincial and federal levels.
