National Day of Action for Social Housing event held in Winnipeg

On Thursday, October 5th people across Canada called on Prime Minister Trudeau and the Canadian government to take action to solve the housing and homelessness crisis by funding social housing.  In Winnipeg,  people gathered outside MP Dan Vandal’s constituency office, an event organized by Right to Housing Coalition. Lindsey McBain, Coordinator of the Coalition talked about the need for increased social housing asking that 30,000 social housing units be built across the country every year until 2034.  These units would rent at no more than 30 per cent of the occupant’s household income. At the gathering people signed letters calling for more social housing and delivered them to Dan Vandal’s office.
